Buyer fit
Built around a clear procurement decision.
Suitable for distributors assembling an everyday prescription range and laboratories comparing stock versus RX routes. Start with the intended prescription and frame requirements, then select index and finish; a higher index alone does not determine finished thickness.
Start with representative samples, approve the agreed specification, then use it as the reference for trial and repeat orders.

Planning ranges are subject to the approved power-and-diameter matrix. MR-8 is a 1.60 material; a 1.61 commercial label does not by itself identify MR-8.

Lens design
Choose the surface geometry
Spherical and aspheric designs describe lens geometry, while refractive index describes the material. Review them as separate choices. The qualitative illustration explains the geometry; it is not a thickness calculation for a particular prescription.

Application & selection
Build a repeatable stock program
Send a signed sphere-and-cylinder matrix with quantities, diameter and finish. Have the receiving laboratory review frame cutout and any power combinations outside the proposed stock range before sample approval.

Procurement FAQ
Questions buyers ask before sampling.
Does single vision include a reading addition?+
A conventional single-vision lens provides one correction. A separate near segment or progressive addition belongs to a different design.
Is 1.61 always MR-8?+
No. Specify the exact resin. Mitsui identifies MR-8 as a 1.60 material; commercial index descriptions need a substrate cross-check.
Are all powers available in every diameter?+
Availability is confirmed by the complete power-and-diameter matrix, coating and order quantity.
